On 28 February 2026, the “Brisbane Chinese New Year Gala & Festival 2026” was grandly held at Brisbane City Hall in celebration of the Year of the Horse. The event attracted a large number of distinguished guests and members of the public, with the venue filled with a festive, joyful and harmonious New Year atmosphere throughout the day.
The celebration consisted of two major parts: the Chinese New Year Festival and the Chinese New Year Gala. The Brisbane Chinese Festival was held from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, while the Brisbane Chinese New Year Gala took place from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Rich in content and diverse in presentation, the event not only fully showcased the profound heritage and unique appeal of Chinese traditional culture, but also reflected Brisbane’s vibrant multicultural character and inclusive urban spirit.
As an important part of the 2026 Chinese New Year celebration series, the Brisbane event further strengthened community connection, enhanced cultural understanding and friendly exchange, and added another joyful and meaningful chapter to the promotion of Australia–China people-to-people and cultural engagement.
